At around 75,000 miles my check engine soon light came on. Colling is fine, belts are fine, oil pressure is fine, engine is running fine. I assume it has something to do with a programmed emission check. I do not want to spend any money on the car as it is going on 13 years old (yes it is really 75,000 miles). How do I reset the engine light?

You have a problem within the engine management system that's causing the CEL to come on-Go to Autozone and have the computer scanned for codes/ its a free service to the public. This is your starting point identifying what's really going on and comeback with the codes so we can continue to assist you-Who knows could be an oxygen sensor problem that's popping the light

Auto Zone said was code PO740. What does this indicate and what is the most llikely cause at 75,000 miles? They say it is a transmission fault.

Is this going to be expensive? I don't want to spend a lot of money on this vehicle.

Is it easy to check to see what it is and is it something I could do?
