Engine Performance problem
1995 Chevy Blazer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 95 Blazer and we just put another engine in it and it started up(was sorta hard starting) but it did and it idiled rough but when in driving mode it ran great got it home and now it wont start it cranks tho. Also when cranking and let off the key the engine rotates backwards? We put a new timing chain on it, new knock sensors, cranksensor, new plugs, wires, oil pump, distributor cap, rotor button, new gaskets everywhere. Any possible solutions? I feel the engine is not the problem cause the engine ran fine before pulled I heard it run ran like a purring kitten?

Recheck the ignition timing. If it is kicking back, it sounds too far advanced.

Let me know what you find.

Thank you for your reply. I am new to this site and I have had one heck of a time finding help on here for my 95 blazer 4.3 Vortex engine that was just recently put in. Everything has pretty much been replaced as far as tuneup and sensors. Only thing not replaced new was the distributor. Mine was a side mount on my motor that blowed engine I got was top mount so we switched them and the oil pan other then that its the same engine it ran rough(not really bad) upon first start while sitting at idle but when in full throttle it ran smooth so we drove it home parked it. No start next day. So my husband tore it back down to timing chain and its perfectly lined up and firing order is right and looks good had a very little slack in it so I went bought a new timing chain and gears for it and hopefully we will know how its gonna run tonight. Also there is a knock sensor on the front of the engine that is in the block and there is no possible way to get anything to grip on it any suggestion how to get this out? Thanks for helping us I appreciate it alot. My husband is somewhat mechanically inclined but hes a 350engine kinda guy hes not one who likes all the electronic stuff on this new engines.

Hi
The knock sensor can have an effect on the timing. It's job is to advance the timing to the max point before the valves ping. As far as the tool, you need rent a special tool from the local parts store.
