I have a 1999 chevy astro AWD. The service awd
light is coming on and the awd is not working properly. It seems like it is not engaging? The
light seems to come on when the vehicle senses
the "need for awd"? I was told it may be a sensor.
upon researching sensors I can not find anything
particular to this problem. However, I ran across
the transfer case motor. Could this be the problem?

I had a similar problem with my 2002 Astro AWD. The service AWD light was coming on. I had the motor on the transfer case changed and it solved the problem. The AWD wasn't engaging while the service light was on. My ABS light was also coming on and it was a problem with one of the sensors. Hope this helps
