No cold air, Recharged with 134 got cool air down to 55* in max air. Low press. Would not rise above 28 psi. With compressure cycled on. Vechicle sat for a day and when started no cold air again. Compressor was short cycling like it was low on charge. Connected gages low side 25 psi. And high side 98 psi. Thought it might have a leak, vacuumed it down and let it sit overnight. Vac. Held all night. Now I am trying to figure out if it is a blockage or a failed compressor? Anything else I should check?

I hope to hear your thoughts on this problem, this vehicle is my work van and I use it as my work shop on the job. I use the AC almost year around in this climate. Your help in this diagnosis is greatly appreciated.

My 1997 Astro has 76000 miles. Until recently, usually under load, the A/C would sometimes not blow out the dash vents, only the defrost and under-dash. Taken off load, the problem would go away. Recently, the problem does not correct and the a/c now does not blow out the dash vents at all. A check under the hood revealed a small (1/16 I.D.) Vacuum line is broken. This line connects to a "T" right next to the a/c dryer. The line runs back across the top of the block, toward the driver's side, but I cannot see where that end terminates. Where does the line go and how can I access it to replace it, presuming this is the cause of my a/c problem. Thanks

I tried, but the original line just continued breaking and falling apart. I'm sure the whole line needs replacing, I just cannot see where it goes to up on the engine or how to access that area.

Take off your doghouse to access the engine from inside the van. You should be able to see the line from there
