How do I find a mechanic who is competent to diagnose and fix this problem? The car is running fine, except maybe a little hesitation/running slightly rough when decelerating to a stop. It has plenty of "pep". Installing new spark plugs did not solve the problem.

Hello,

The code P0302 is due to misfire in cylinder two.
It could be simple as a worn spark plug.
It can also be due to a faulty injector or even the ECM.

Here is a helpful guide on how to diagnose engine misfire:

As for finding a good mechanic, you will have to just call around a few of the reputable local shops.

I have attached the diagnostic procedure for the code P0302 below for your reference.

Let me know of any questions.
Thank you.
