I have change the EGR valve and purge valve solenoid. Also the Mass Airflow Sensor. My check engine light is on and it is a "P1410 " code which reads "Air Cleaner Inlet Control Circuit". I have read that changing the EGR Boost Solenoid Valve can fix the problem but I am not sure. Is the EGR Boost Solenoid Valve the same as the Intake Manifold Runner Control Valve?

Hello,

The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve is not the same as the Intake Runner Manifold Control (IMRC) valve. The EGR valve opens and let's exhaust controlled by your vehicle's Power-train Control Module (PCM) or "computer" to enter into the throttle body, where it is ingested into the engine through the intake manifold and reburned to try to get the maximum amount of harmful emissions burnt. The IMRC is usually vacuum controlled and controls the percentage of the intake port that is open and available to ingest the air;fuel mixture into the combustion chamber.
I have included the factory troubleshooting flowchart for Direct Trouble Code (DTC) 1410 in the diagrams down below. You will have to use a multi-meter to go through this guide so I have included a link for you to go to below if you are unfamiliar with how to use one.

Please go through these guides and get back to us with what you find out please.

Okay, I printed and started reading the information you placed at the bottom. I do not know what the VAD Solenoid Valve and PCM look like, nor where they are located. I was unable to find the information online either. Any help would be great, thanks.

Okay I will look into it. I was able to get some screenshots to better explain the first question I sent above. I am trying to figure out what is the EGR Boost Sensor Solenoid Valve? Thank you

Hello again,

Okay, so I did a little more research and found the Variable Air Duct (VAD) solenoid. It only opens at high engine speed to keep the engine from running rich at higher speeds and loads. It is part of the air intake system. Your vehicle runs a regular EGR system and I have no idea what EGR Boost Sensor Solenoid Valve is. Like I said, EGR is just exhaust getting reburned. DTC P 1410 doesn't even have anything to do with the EGR system, It is dealing with the air intake system. I have included some more diagrams and description of the air intake system and the sensors and valves on your engine that deal with engine performance in the diagrams down below. All the EGR system is represented in the diagrams as well. Please go through the guides, go through the Mazda factory troubleshooting guide from previous answer and get back to us with what you find out please.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for you help. Thank you so much. I have fixed the problem. I just wanted to ask another question. Is the Variable Valve Time Oil Control Valve and Variable Valve Timing Solenoid the same thing? Also do you know the location on my engine?

Thanks

Can I use MAF sensor cleaner to clean the connectors on my PCM if I do not have electrical contact cleaner?

Hello again,

I believe you would be alright doing that. MAF cleaner is specifically designed to clean sensitive electronic components and dry quickly, so it will not damage the components or leave residue Residue would cause unwanted resistance and the electronic component may not function because of deminished voltage. Please get back to us with how things turn out.

Thanks,
Alex

It worked. The MAF sensor cleaner did not hurt the sensitive electronics. I cleaned the contacts on the computer under the carpet on the passenger side. There is supposed to be another smaller computer on the driver side. Do you know where that is located?

Hello,

I have included the information that you requested in the diagrams below. I'm pretty sure you are looking for the two main computers, the Power-train Control Module (PCM) and the Transmission Control Module (TCM). I have them both highlighted for you.

Thanks,
Alex

Thank you for the help. I really appreciate it. I see that I have two relays missing (maybe they are not supposed to be there. I'm not sure). One says "H/Clean Relay" and the other "Glow Relay". Any idea what they are for? I couldn't find them on any site to purchase.

Hello,
Where was the fuse panel location in your vehicle the relays, or lack there of, were at? The engine compartment, left side of dashboard?

Thanks,
Alex
