I started my car yesterday without a problem. Today I get into my car turn the ignition and it sounds like a plane when it is just beginning to take off and the sound goes louder, I then turn the ignition off. Any idea what this could mean?

Hello,

What happens when you turn your ignition key. Does your vehicle crank and not start, does it sound like a machine gun, does it click, or does it do nothing at all?

Thanks,
Alex

It does nothing at all, all of the dash board lights come on, so it is hard to determine the problem, but this airplane noise starts out and gets louder until you pull the key out of the ignition.

Hello again,

This could be a problem with your vehicle's air injection system. It pumps air into the exhaust during warm up to reduce emissions during warm up. In the diagrams down below I have included a description of the air injection system as well as directions for the removal, inspection, and installation of the air pump switch over solenoid. This solenoid could be stuck allowing the air to flow to the switch over valves, creating this noise. Please go through these guides and get back to us with what you are able to find out.

Thanks,
Alex
