Hi,

I need the engine size to confirm a few things.

P1684 is only a status that indicates that the PCM memory has been cleared within the last 50 ignition cycles and does not indicate a problem. If you have scanned the computer and cleared it, this would set.

The P1685 is related to the SKIM (Sentry Key Immobilizer Module). This condition exists when the transponder ID (KEY) read by the SKIM does not match any of the transponder ID's stored in the SKIM's memory. Do you have a spare key you could try?

Let me know.

Joe

It still starts and runs but only gets about two miles then runs badly. Sometimes it will start up in a couple hours and other time's it all night. If I hook the trickle charger up to it. It start up run badly and then within a minute it smooths right out.

Hi,

If it stalls and you need to wait for it to restart, we need to check if we lost fuel or ignition spark.

When this happens again, see if the engine starts using starting fluid. If it does and then stalls, we know its fuel related. If there is no change, I need you to check for spark at the plugs.

Here is a link that explains how it's done:

I suggest this because based on the description, it sounds like a failing crankshaft position sensor. Take a look through this link and let me know if it mirrors what you experience:

Let me know.

Hi,

Did you hook up the charger when it wouldn't start? That doesn't make sense.

Let me know.
