I have the vehicle listed above Quattro that is giving me a P0342 code.

Where is - Camshaft Position Sensor 'A' Circuit Low Input Bank 1 located on the engine?

A picture or diagram would be helpful.

Hi,

I'm not sure which engine you have. There is a 2.7L a 3.0L and a 4.2L.

The 2.7 and 4.2 only have one bank 1 sensor. The 3.0L has 2 bank 1 sensors.

If you look below, I attached 3 pics. The first is the 4.2L and I highlighted the bank 1 sensor. It is in the rear of the driver's side cylinder head.

Pic 2 shows the 2.7L. I highlighted the bank 1 sensor location.

The last pic shows the 3.0L engine. I highlighted the location of the bank 1 sensor 1 location.

Joe,

Thanks for the quick response and this helps out a lot. I do have the 3.0 engine. I was looking through YouTube and found someone replacing the camshaft sensors and it doesn't seem to be too difficult, but he mentions the Audi A6 3.0 having four sensors. Is he referring to other sensors? Here is the link:

I think your diagram pinpoints the one I need to replace but was just curious.

I appreciate the help.

Rafael
