My husband recently bought a brand new motor from Advanced auto parts and he installed it himself. Once he completed the installation, the truck turns over but it will not start. It may be because the analog on-star has been deactivated because they no longer monitor on-star for models that are older than a 2006, I believe. Anyway, we need to know how to resolve the computer, or reset the computer on the escalade.

Your "on-star" system shouldn't keep the engine from starting. What is missing, spark, fuel pressure injector pulse, or all of the above. Please advise.

If a new motor has been installed, isn't there something that has to be done to the brain box and if so, what? I didn't mean the on-star itself cause it is no longer available in 1999 vehicles.

All of the acquired memory in the ECM is erased when you disconnect the battery. The ECM is starting out like it's brand new. As long as all the sensors are connected everything is the way it was originally, the new motor should start right up.
