89 Cadillac Fuel Guage Flashing E

My 1989 Cadillac Deville just started flashing E on the fuel guage no matter how much gas is in the tank. Where is the best place to start looking? In the tank at the sending unit or in dash guage itself?

Dash gauge would be easier to start with. Fuel tanks can be a pain to work with. Check a wiring diagram if possible. It may give you a good starting place. Odds are the sensor itself is bad since it is most likely the only moving part. It could be stuck in the E position.
