Brakes problem
2003 Cadillac Deville V8 Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I got the warning lights for the Antilock Brakes, Brake, and Traction Control. I took the car to the dealer from whom I purchased the car. I also purchased an extended warranty. I was advised that the problem was a failed Electronic Brake Traction Control Module but it was not covered by the extended warranty. The dealer wanted $927.63 for the part and $262.37 for labor. Because I was upset after paying for the extended warranty and being told the problem was not covered I did not have it repaired there. I found a new part on line for $430 including shipping and installed it. After the installation the warning lights are still on. Does the computer need to be reset, or what might be the problem?

During this time the service steering system light came on. I checked and the power steering fluid was low. I brought it up to the full mark but the warning light is still there. Similar question, does the computer need to be reset, or what might be this problem?

Unfortunately, it needs to be programmed to the vehicle, and as far as I know, can only be done at a GM dealer. It can be done at any GM dealer though, in case you didn't want to return to the one you referenced. Until that happens, we can only assume that's all thats wrong at this point.

Important: An unprogrammed EBCM will result in the following conditions:

"Â Inoperative or poorly functioning DRP/ABS/TCS/VSES/VES (if equipped)

"Â Set DTC C1248 EBCM Turned On the Red Brake Warning Indicator

"Â Set DTC C1255m3 EBCM Internal Malfunction

If a replacement EBCM is being installed, it must be programmed using the latest software matching the vehicle. Refer to the Techline Terminal/Equipment user's instructions.
Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
Perform the ABS Diagnostic System Check. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - ABS.
