1997 Cadillac Deville trermastat

We just put new 1 in. Long end into the motor. But it still is runnin hot. 260degree. Plus stop engine lite came on. . No heat . Defrost. Is blowing cold air.

If replacing thermostat didn't solve overheating and coolant level is full then ensure radiator fan(s) come on properly. If so, may need to have cooling system flushed to ensure no blockages are preventing coolant flow.

Step 1 - A heater cannot operate unless the engine is full of coolant/antifreeze. If coolant level is low check the system for leaks.
