well, my problems started `1 month ago,now i got laid off and my car is still screwed up. heres the deal. i month ago it started with a low refrigereant mesg along with an ac compressor off mesg. i had heat but no air. the clutch wouldnt engage. so i bought freon with gage put it on and it registered full. next light to come service engine soon. i took to pepboys they checked ac for leaks with dye and said freon fine and couldnt find ac problem. they said check engine light was a sensor but the only guy that could perform the engine dianostic was out for two weeks. so i had a small time mechanic look at it. and he he tried to jump the ac clutch and nothing happened. he put ameter under my dash and the readout on the screen said running lean and he said i have avaacum leak. he couldnt find it. after he left ac compressor light, very low refrigerantlight and service enginesoon light .have all gone off. now today anew light comes on and it says service, and it scrolls along and says idle control system. whats up with all these lights going off and on. im getting very poor milege, that all i know for sure. do i have 1 problem or many. wher do i begin on alimited laid off persons budget. tanks so much

The running lean and the idle message may be related, especially if you indeed do have a vacuum leak. As far as the a/c faults, if the system is full, you potentially have a sensor(pressure) that could be faulty. The compressor will not engage due to protection in response to the low refrigerant fault. I don't have any one word answers, there are several possibilities, and it would be guessing. I would focus on the engine related issues, as poor fuel mileage relates to higher costs. The A/C can be dealt with at a later time. If you can, submit some fault code numbers(p0xxx), and I might be able to help.
