Oil consumption

Engine Mechanical problem
1988 Cadillac Brougham V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 97500 miles

This vehicle has been in our family since new.
It has been consuming motor oil, 10W30 for some time but now it is using approximately 1 quart in 150 miles.
There is very little oil on the garage floor, and no evidence of colored smoke coming out of the tailpipe.
Please give me your suggestions on whether an additive or some other remedy would be practical.

Hi:
That is a lot of oil. If it's not leaking or burning it, that amount has to be going somewhere. Check the coolant to make sure you don't have a head gasket problem allowing the oil to be pushed into the coolant.

Let me know what you find.
