1997 Buick Riviera sucurity light

The car will not start with the sucurity light on I have to wait for 5 to 15 mins until it will start. What might be the problem?

Hi:
The light indicates the proper key isn't in the ignition. You may want to visit a dealer and have them check it or replace the key. Your key's resister may be going bad, ir the sensor in the steering column is.
