My car temperature rose suddenly under around-town driving conditions. Upon inspection, the coolant is contaminated with oil. The car seems to run fine but overheats after a few minutes of running. The oil is about 1 quart low. No signs of coolant in the oil or steam in the exhaust. Is this a leaking head gasket?

Hi EricMalloy,

Thank you for the donation.

Yes, looks like you have a bad head gasket. If the leakage is not from the compression side but between the oil pressure and coolant passages, coolant would not get to the oil.

This would also not affect the engine performance.

Check if the transmission fluids are good
