The odometer, PRND indicator, & trip meter are dark. It started as an intermittent blacking out.
What is the likely cause of this problem, & how can it be repaired. From what I've learned it sounds like the circuit board in the cluster needs repair. I talked with a person at a local GMC dealer service dept, & he said it might just need reprogramming. Is that likely? It will cost $95 to find out. If the repair of the cluster must be done the labor will be $147, the circuit board repair $384. The unit will be sent out of state for repair.

Cluster is most likely the issue
reprogramming it may or may not work
i would give it 25% to work at best
use a scanner tool and check the cluster select data
check IPC data and BCM data
Many places on line sell an after market cluster that should work just fine for you

I understand that having the original repaired/reinstalled saves the mileage data. If I have an after market cluster installed would it need programing to show the original mileage?
