While driving the engine check light came on and engine started to run poorly. No problems before now, car always ran great. The light blinked at first and now stays on. I restarted the engine a few times to see if the light went off, it didn't. I noted the temp gauge jumped to a hotter reading when I was checking the light. I checked the water and it was low. I refilled the system and started the engine again; it ran better for a few seconds and started lopping and jumping at the idler pulley and died. It wants start at all now. Want even turn over. It acts like the battery is down but I jumped it off and it still want turn over.

I pulled the plugs and I think we know where the water went. Is this a GM problem that might be covered since I read about some other problem just like this with others?

Thanks,

Stephen

Doubt Gm will do anything for you.It is a fairly common problem but there position has been that lack of coolant maintence is cause.

I may try to do the repairs myself if the Quote shows to be more than I need to spend right now. So any extra tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Stephen

Guys I added a $10.00 donation last night on my own and you asked for another $10.00 if I wanted to get my quote and tips for the repair of my Buick. Do I get my results now or am I doing something wrong. You have been a great help up to now, please don't let me down. I'm not rolling with money and that is the reason I’m needing all the help I can get to repair my Buick myself if the quote is more than I can afford.

Thank You,

Stephen

Hi
Did you download mitchell on demand yet?
Labor is 7.1 hrs. so if labor rate is say $90hr $639 and figure gaskets , mill heads, misc. stuff say $250
So @$1000 would be in ballpark. Also these engines where bad about intake manifold gaskets leaking into cumbustion chamber. Do a compression test if it's goood then replace intake gaskets.
