Hi Jacob and Joe, or whoever might get this question. Thanks in advance for the advice. I've used this service many times and it's always been very helpful.

I've an issue, I'm sure you know plenty about a broken spark plug in a Ford Triton V8 engine. The #4 plug on my engine broke off right at the hex.
I know there is a special tool for the 2004=2011 Triton V8 3 valves because this was such a common problem, but this is a 1997 4.6 V8. Any advice on getting this thing out without pulling the head off? Is there a tool that would possibly work on a 1997?
Thanks again for the help.

Hey there!

Sorry to hear you are having some trouble with that stuck plug.

As far as I know the 3V broken sparkplug removal tool would only work for the 3V due to the plug design being so different. I do not want to recommend a tool that is not going to work for you. Since the 2V has a conventional plug design, a conventional broken plug removal tool is your best bet outside of taking the head off.

Something like this is what I would try https://amzn.to/3ucZAOK with a long extension

I would also soak the heck out of the well with WD-40 or some penetrating fluid and let it sit overnight.

Thank you so much for using 2CarPros!

Best,
Ryan
