I have now burned threw a second engiene wire harness. The hottest wires seem to be coming from the wire box attached to the firewall in the center of the engiene compartment.
The hottest wires are White/yellow and White/purple. They start at the DME and end at the diagnostic plug.

can anyone point me to where I can find info on what these wires control? I'd like to find the source of the short so I don't burn threw a wire harness again.

What do you mean by hot? Where is the burning at in the harness? What precipitated the failure? Was the car in an accident? I'm trying to get to the root of the problem and gather information to give a reliable response, there might be something simple that is being overlooked.
