Purchased BMW about 5 months ago, which at that time the engine was running perfect. Although I could not drive the car because the wheel berrings were completely destroyed including the ralling arms. Once we replaced wheel berrings the car ran great for about 5 miles until the catalyst converter was exploding through the exhaust which caused the car to stall after 1 mile of driving. Now we just replaced the catalyst converter and now the car is driving super rough and orangish color smoke is coming out of exhaust. Jerl's Muffler said the car is miss firing and it is an engine problem. We are totally confused and don't trust anyone's diagnosis. Could this be something as simple as a tune up? Please advise!

You dont know if it was running perfectly, because you couldn't drive it. Where can I go from there?

It could be as simple as a tune up, but before you buy any parts have it scanned with proprietary BMW software and find out if and why it is misfiring. Have your exhaust system checked at another muffler shop to make sure you don't have any blockage from catalytic material in the muffler.
