Hi, when I start up my car, it stalls immediately. Unless I rev it for a few seconds then it will stay running. Also when I shift gears and let the rpms drop, it starts acting like it is going to shut off. I was wondering if that is a problem with the idle control valve or with the fuel pump. And another question, the speedometer kind of just goes on and off whenever, but if the car is warmed up it works most of them time. What could that be? All of the lights work and everything just the readings disappear! Thanks a lot for your help!

I ran into a problem like this just the other day. Turned out to be bad wiring to a crankshaft position sensor.

The four wires leading from the sensor were fused together and the internal windings were cracked, causing an intermittant problem. (Hard/no-start, crazy tach readings, engine quite at idle, etc.)

Check yours. If that's not the problem, then start looking at your fuel system, beginning with a fuel pressure check.
