As an Alfa Romeo enthusiest and former Auto technician this Beemer has me stuck. Mainley because I 'm not framiliar with Beemers and my diagnostic tools are not with me.

The car sat for some time(2 yrs) I repalced the plugs put fresh fuel and tightened up the cooling system.

The car idles rough. A fairly new Air-Flow meter has been installed, with a new O2 sensor and new main vacume boot. I had it running strong for about 2 hours a few weeks ago.

The compression on all six cylinders is between 140 and 151.

Does not have vacume leak to the best of my knowledge.

She starts out cold, or boggs out when you press the gas. And sometimes the idle rev's up and down.

What part or system do you reccommend I try to diagnost or (guess) on next. Thanks Ned.

The M20 motor in the car requires proper valve adjustment and proper plug gap as well as a clean throttle plate in the throttle body to idle smoothly. Also inspect the round connector under the intake manifold for corrosion. It is directly below the throttle body
