Engine Cooling problem
1984 BMW 318 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

I own a 1984 BMW 318i. It was running a bit off and I noticed that it was hesitating when I tried to accelerate but did not hesitate when I drove it easy. I also had a problem starting the car a couple of days before. I decided to check the battery and the alternator and found that the alternator was not charging - low voltage on the battery while idling. At that moment a gush of coolant came out of the back right side of the motor and steam in through the vents - I lost virtually all of my coolant. Am I looking at a head gasket - the heater core hoses don't appear to be damaged, or any other suggestions as to what might have happened and what I need to fix?
Thanks,
Wes

Your hesitation problem was probably the alternator not charging and a weak battery, you're cool loss you will have to take it somewhere and have the cooling system tested to find out where the came from
