Got hot, works but blows white smoke through muffler.

This is consistent with coolant in the combustion chamber. You will need to get a head check done. This will determine if there is a head or gasket problem as a result or the over heating.

There is also coolant getting in the oil.

You defiantly have a cracked head or a blown head gasket. This will have to be looked at ASAP as more damage will be done if driven any distance.
