Engine Performance problem
2004 Audi A6 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I was driving my car and all of a sudden it was acting like it had no gas(tank is full) it started puttering. when i got home I opened the hood and I saw something glowing just below the cooling tank(?) and it smelled like plastic was burning. I let it cool off and started it up again and the glowing started again. I am scared to drive it and i dont have any idea what it could be. This car has never broken down before it has been a great car so i am soooo confused at what could be happening...HELP

Hi there,

i am thinking that you may have a failed cat converter, but we first will need to know what the code is, (check light on) you will need a diagnostic scan to get this information, i would see if your local mechanic can do a home visit to do this scan.

Hi there,

They should give you the code no problems, about the only thing that will glow like that is the exhaust system which the cat is part of, see how you go at the dealer and let me know what they say.
