I have a 97 audi a4 quattro with a 2.8 v6 engine. The check engine light is on and I recently went to advanced auto parts for them to read the codes. They said that the reader they have does not connect to the car and it does not use obdII. If this is true, how can I get to codes myself without paying the dealer costs?

Your vehicle is NOT equipped with the OBDII program. It has the older OBD program. To retrieve the codes without going to the dealer, you will have to purchase the diagnostic scanner yourself and perform the following operations..
