2002 Audi A2 Repair Question

Timing belt slipped off due to oil leak. mechanic says it had to bend some valves but he has not looked. how hard is it and what is the procedure for removing the head? I can get it rebuilt locally for $500. Good price? also, mechanic wants $2700(est,. not firm).good price? by the way, I am very mechanical. have done this on several american cars but never an audi. thanks

I don't have a 2A on the data base in 2002 Audi's
is there a different model designation that you know it by, such as A4, 6 or 8 S4, 6 or 8, TT
That all i have info on.
