Truck has an AOD transmission which shifts on the column. Will a c6 column that shifts on the column swap right in or would it be better to update the column to 87 thru 90? If better to update the column what parts do I need? What broke in my original column is the gear shift lever which I believe is one piece with the gear detents and is not made anymore. Any information greatly appreciated as good weather is coming to an end and I would like to do some topless driving before that happens.

Actually you can probably find the column collar is where the shifter goes into at an auto parts. I am sure you can find these online at a bronco place or a junkyard for that matter. Instead of replacing the whole column.

The part that broke is the part that surrounds a spring. Is that the whole column collar or is that a separate inside piece of the collar?

Also, I can get that whole c6 column for $50.00 the column collar is $80.00 plus and I also 'misplaced' the steering wheel which costs even more on top of parts.

I see this is a tilt column, so if you are going on the cheap you can put the other one in but 1986 is the same a S pickup and not a bronco II so you can get one out of a pickup, but make sure it is the same. Wiring wise or you could run into problems.
