DOES ANYONE KNOW HOWTO REPAIR A CUT CABLE FOR TRUCK LIGHTS. THE TRUCK IS 40' LONG AND HAS A SELF CONTAINED 12 WHEEL CONTAINER THAT CAN'T BE DRIVEN BECAUSE THE CABLE FOR THE LIGHTS HAVE BEEN CUT. I HAVE HEARD IT IS A SIMPLE JOB, JUST 2 COLOR CODED WIRES, HOWEVER THE DELIVERY PERSON, WHO CLAIMS TO BE A PROFESSIONAL TRUCK DRIVER, SAYS HE DOESN'T KNOW A THING ABOUT REPAIRING LIGHTS ON A TRUCK AND SUBSEQUENTLY HAS KEPT IT FOR EIGHT MONTHS NOW.
I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Hi there,

If the cable is accessible and a clean cut, it will be easy to repair. The cable will have a hard outer plastic covering, cut this back about 4-6" each side. If there are say 6 wires they will be colour coded, If there is a bit of slack in one cable all the better, (will the cables over lay each other by 6". If so trim each cable so they are staggered in length (do the same with both ends) so when joined they are all the same length and not bunched up. Cut bask about 1/2 ' insulation on each wire, don't cut the wire if possible, solder each end together (red to red, blue to blue and so on) cover joint with insulating tape, if done carefully the cable will be joined with the wires staggered and no kinks, test lights and if OK, tape up loo with insulating tape.
