I have a 5-position switch to direct the air. I am able to access two positions. The selector switch will not move past the second setting preventing me from sending air to the windshield.

Hi,

The airflow direction is controlled by a mode door. The mode door is moved mechanically by a cable when you select the direction for airflow.

Based on what you described, I have a feeling the cable slipped under the dash and prevented the control lever on the HVAC box from properly operating. With that in mind, I need you to look under the dash on the driver's side and locate the cable connector.

If you look at pic 1 below, it is a general pic of the cables and where they attach. Inspect the cables and how they are mounted to make sure nothing is damaged. Also, while you watch the cables, move the airflow direction switch to see if the cable's insulation is sliding back and forth and preventing the internal cable from moving the control lever.

If that all appears to be in good condition, then we need to check at the controller itself. If you look at pic 2, it shows the levers' connections at the switch. Do the same here. Inspect cables, connections, and lever operations.

Let me know what you find.

Joe
