Engine burning oil

Engine Mechanical problem
2004 Acura TSX 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 92,000 miles

I have a 2004 Acura TSX with 6 speed manual and about 92,000 miles on it.. For some reason, my engine is burning oil... i checked for leaks and there are none... also, while im driving, at about 2100 - 2500 RPM, my engine makes a high pitch metal grinding noise.. Can they be related? My engine is suppose to take a 5W-30 and from a mechanics suggestion, i put in a 10W-30 so it doesnt burn the engine oil... is this safe? What could be the problem?

Hi there, the 10W-30 is fine, but i would be concerned about the engine noise, has your mechanic heard ythis, i think that you should get this seen to ASAP as it may be a serious problem.
