AC blows hot air and after asking previous owner they said the mechanic told them the signal is not getting to the computer to send cold air. Can this problem be fixed and if so how big of a job will it be?

Good evening.

There are many possibilities for this issue.
1. Low freon. You would need a set of gauges to determine if there is enough freon to engage the compressor.
2. Electrical issue not allowing the compressor to turn on.
3. The compressor itself may be the failure.

The best thing to do is take it to a shop and have them diagnose it for you. Then let us know the results and we can continue with our advice on repairs and some estimates for you.
