ABS light on and off, ABS is activating while turning with no brake pedal depressed.

I have been chasing this problem for a while, when turning without the brake pedal applied the ABS will activate and then when you try to stop the vehicle it is impossible due to the ABS being activated. I had a Check Engine light on today and the shop told me I had several codes, one being faulty brake light switch. Would this be causing the issue I am having?
