I have a little less then 4500 babied miles on a complete rebuilt 4L60E transmission. I know these transmissions aren't known to be the best but I've owned quite a few Chevy's with this transmission and never had such a problem I am the 2nd owner and the first transmission lasted almost 200,000 miles. My symptoms where initially no first gear. No warning signs at all. The fluid looks and smells like it should. I drove with no first gear for about a week and now about every other start its back to normal. On these vehicles would a failing fuel pump or poor fuel pressure cause the transmission gears intermittently work or is it just wishful thinking?

You may have a valve body issue with not going in first gear. Check for any codes in the system. If it is electronic, it will code, otherwise it is a mechanical issue.

No, fuel pump as no effect on the system.
