The engine stopped running?

The engine stopped running. We put some oil in it, and the car started and was running fine again then it stopped again. No weird noises from the hood while running, but the check engine light is on. The car is getting towed to a shop awaiting to be looked at, I want to know how to fix it before they look at it.

This sounds like the crankshaft angle sensor or the fuel pump has gone out, when you turn the key to the on position without cranking the engine over can you hear the fuel pump run in the tank for 5 seconds?

The guide helped me find the crankshaft angle sensor was out. There was no weird noise or warning light on before today but it running now. Thank you very much for your help!
