On my gmc texas edition when I press on my brakes my blinkers light up like my stop lights only when my lights are off though why is this happening?

First check if there's a trailer harness that has gotten chewed up and two wires are touching.

A broken ground wire can cause this symptom too, but most commonly that is also related to a trailer harness that was spliced in with mechanical connectors that don't seal out moisture.
