After I have driven even a short distance the wheel/exhaust on my drivers rear side has a burning smell. I have tried to see if anything is visably wrong but cannot see anything. My car knowledge is quite poor though. I have been online and een this is a common problem with my car. Most people are saying it is to do with the weather or a plastic bag getting caught underneath the car. Does this sound likely? The tyre is not really hot when this happens and there is no problem in braking. My MPG has gone down in the past week by about 7 or 8 MPG.

The chances of hitting a plastic bag several times is slim. Are you sure the brake isn't sticking?

Hi, no the brakes are working fine. It seems to have lost a tiny bit of power recently. I usually drive this on the motorway to work at high speed 60-70mph but the past couple of weeks I have been off work and only driving around town 20-30mph. Could that have anything to do with it?

I don't think that would cause an issue. Other than the lower fuel mileage, is the vehicle running normally? Has the check engine light come on?

No warning lights. Just this smell. It started today. I have booked it in for a service so hopefully they will be able to spot anything wrong. Thanks for your help.

I drove it to work this morning and it is sticking like you said. It has started to make a loud metallic noise as well. Very worrying. Hopefully it wont be too expensive :/

It sounds like a brake is sticking. Are you able to safely lift the vehicle to check which brake is causing the noise / problem?
