2008 Ford Falcon Transmission fault

Hi. Had a transmission fault code appeared since last week. Fault code 0733 1703 1650 145b. Local mechanic said the main problem should be 0733-number 3 band is broken. Btw, our car is a 2008 Ford Falcon FG XR6, 170000km.
Our local(Aus Melbourne) auto mechanic quote $2500 plus gst to replace a second hand or $3100 plus gst to rebuild with two-year warranty.
Just wondering which is a better option: replace or rebuild? Is the price sounds reasonable?
Or is that cheaper to buy a secondhand transmission online and then find someone to replace it? Or do you have any suggestions?

Here in the U.S. We can find Ford Fusion automatic transmissions for around $1000. The Falcon isn't sold here but the transmissions may be similar, thus costing about the same.
Hopefully, that is the case. However, how much would a shop charge to put it in for you? Once you've found a transmission and ascertained the cost of putting it in, your decision will be made for you. Good Luck.
