We have a 2007 santa fe. The car has been serviced several times and all check ups maintenaned. We recently put in an alternator (two weeks ago) We are away on vacation and the check engine light is on. It flashes on and off then goes steady. The car is shaking but runs. We opened the hood and it is shaking by the engine. Any ideas on what could be the problem. Why would a car that is only 4 years old have so many issues? What do we do now?

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.

Thank you. YOu have veen very helpful. We went to Advance Auto and it shows code P0301. I looked it up and there are a lot of reason for this misfire. We got gas 1.5 gallons at an exxon station until we got to BP to fill up. Can this be the cause, it says poor gas. Today the light is still on it is stumpling, but not as much as yesterday.
