We recently bought a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan 6cyl. After having it for 5 months, and putting about 6,000 miles on it (summer vacation) we now have to get the head gasket replaced.

It was discovered when our heat stopped working. The mechanic said that it was leaking coolant.

My concern is that this vehicle has (53,000)miles and is new to us. Should I be concerned that I already have to replace the head gasket? What else should I be looking for?

Are you overheating and leaking antifreeze? If not-no heat try replacing the thermostat and see what happens-

If your asking if you should get rid of the van I would say yes its a crysler product for one, two it dont have any miles on it and its got that kind of trouble, GET RID OF IT! P.S make sure your mechanic is sure of the problem.
