Yesterday my car allowed me to unlock the car with the keypad. but when i started it, it just shut off. no light on dash nothing. I tried to get a jump and the light came back on but it would start. a hour later I was under the hood and when i slammed it shut all the lights came back on and the car started right up with no problem. what could this be? it is a 2007 chrysler sebring.

bad connection from your description. remove and clean the battery cables to start and see if that is the issue.

could it be the alternator or the starter?

start with basics, clean up those terminals real good.
yes it could but they would not start working when slamming the hood.
