Sounds like a loud fan comes, drive a little distance and it goes away, does it when i accelerate
2006 Mercury mountaineer, sounds like a large fan comes on almost like the motor over revs but doesn't, watched fact.

Sounds like the engine fan. Now does it only do it when you accelerate or? Is the engine light coming on? Get back to me with some info and we will take it from there.

No engine or warning lights, does it on acceleration .

Sounds like you need a new fan clutch for the engine fan. napa part number 271358.

I would think so, if you can do a fan belt then you are part way there and I am here to walk you through it if needed.
