I just bought a 2006 Chevy Monte Carlo LT ( 3.9 V6 w/ 70,000 miles ). Temp guage has read midway point for a week until today. Today temp guage crept a few ticks above half and the fan ran for 6-8 minutes after engine shut down. Sat in traffic a lot, air wasn't running. Is this normal?

It didn't overheat. And my few usual parking places around town don't show any signs of leakage.

Internal damage will not show leaks. Have it checked to verify
