When I place my foot on the brake the brake.

When I place my foot on the brake the brake comes on and stays on even when I press the gas pedal to go. What could be wrong?

One of the brakes could be dragging or a parking brake cable could be rusted in the partially-applied position. You can identify which one by it getting real hot after driving for a while.
