I'm getting a whine in the drivetrain when driving over 55 mph. It appears to be coming from the back. The noise immediately goes away when I let up on the gas.

Sounds like a noisy diff, a wheel bearing will just whine all the time and get louder with speed, a diff will be noisy on drive and you can alter the noise with throttle settings, but just get the unis checked first as they can be very noisy when worn but usually don't alter in sound with throttle settings.
