Engine problem ?
Hi could you tell me what may be wrong with my car it has been staggering when accelerated and going uphill so I need to accelerate harder in a lower gear and is getting noticeably worse within last few weeks. Today the check engine light flashed for a few seconds

You need to have a scan performed to retrieve thr trouble codes for the MIL flashing and proceed from there.
Most parts stores provides free scanning services.
If no trouble codes are present, then you need to check for poor ground circuit connections.
