Dodge magnum egr valve. My engine light is on. Autozone check indicates Troubleshooting P0406 EGR system fault - The ECM has detected the EGR position sensor voltage was too high. Probable cause: 1. Failed EGR position sensor, 2. Open or short circuit condition, 3. Failed EGR valve, 4. Failed EGR pressure sensor where applicable, 5. Failed EGR position sensor where applicable.

Unless you pop off your egr valve and push the pintle down and find it not returning to the closed position or its stuck in the open position when removing it. You will need a scan tool that can read live engine data so you can read the egr feed back voltage to properly diagnose what is the problem. Otherwise you will just be guessing what is the problem the trouble tree for the code will ask you what the feed back voltage is as one of the first steps without the scan tool you will not know.
