Is my problem the water pump?

I have a Citroen CV2 diesel, while for a while has used a lot of water, I have checked for leaks but found none. Resently when I am in traffic there is a lot of blue smoke coming from the exhaust. Someone told me it could be the water pump, what do you think?

Blue smoke indicates oil is burning in the cylinders-Are you overheating?

Not all the time, but it tends to run fairly hot on a day to day basis. Obviously when stuck in traffic the engine will get very hot but I have always put any engining heat problems down to the loss of water somewhere.
